Local History :
The San Diego Association of NAPMW was chartered in 1977, that’s 30 years ago. Some of these original members are still with NAPMW San Diego today! We traditionally have Monthly Dinner Meetings which provide up to date information on industry related topics. In the past year we have hosted important speakers such as Gregory Smith, San Diego County Tax Assessor, Victoria Garcia, Marketing Impressions on Personal Branding, and many other exciting topics.
Our purpose is to educate not only our members but members of the lending and real estate community on the current market and lending practices. We do this though the wonderful speakers we have at our dinner meetings each month and classes we offer in the community. The San Diego Association supports local charities in the community. For the past ten years we have manned the finish line water table at the San Diego International Triathlon, for the Father Joe Charities. In addition, we sponsor the APMW Foundation which offers scholarships to members. NAPMW San Diego is part of the Mighty Western Region.

National History :
On February 12, 1964, nine women with 161 years of combined experience in various fields of mortgage banking met in Seattle, Washington to consider the need for an organization to promote women in the mortgage lending professions. On April 22, 1964, the first association, to be known as the Seattle Association of Professional Mortgage Women, was officially formed. Other areas began to show interest in a similar organization. In February of 1967, the National Association of Professional Mortgage Women was chartered for the purpose of organizing Local Associations throughout the United States. Today, the Association is composed of approximately 3,000 members in over 80 Local Associations.
The charter members were interested
in forming an Association that was committed to several
important purposes.
NAPMW’s Purpose:
- To promote and foster
educational opportunities for its members
- To maintain the high standards of the
Mortgage Profession
- To work for equal recognition and
opportunities for women
- To bring together its members for the
exchange of experiences, ideas, and interests in all
phases of mortgage banking on the Local, Region and
National levels.
- To encourage both women and men
to choose the mortgage banking profession as a
career
Who Are NAPMW
Members :
NAPMW's membership consists of a vast array of mortgage lending professionals, including Loan Brokers and Officers, Underwriters, Processors, Appraisers, Realtors, Transaction Coordinators and Mortgage Insurance representatives, to name just a few. As a result of it being a dynamic and diverse group, NAPMW is stronger as a whole and provides its members with an invaluable professional edge.
